Users review: I saw several interviews with the actors before the movie came out, and they talk about the fact that this movie had a lot of twists in it, and they were not kidding. But as I said, I went with the attitude and it took me awhile to figure it out, but I finally did. Or the film moves very slowly for me, or I have become accustomed to see more action. This film is purely psychological in nature, so if you're looking for some action, there are not. It also made me think about how the current court-appointed psychologists have and how they have the power to manipulate the system. On the other hand, it also made me realize that the mentally ill have absolutely no control over their lives (which can be a good thing). Dr. Jonathan Banks (Jude Law) is a psychologist on the case of severe depression patient. His world is quickly turned upside down by having to deal with anxiety, depression, drugs, and medical ethics. Emily Taylor (Rooney Mara) is severely depressed woman who is desperately trying to find the right medicine to treat her suffering. Dr. Victoria Siebert (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is a former visiting psychologist Emily consulted by Dr. Banks to try to uncover some of the dilemmas of the past. Martin Tyler (Channing Tatum) is the husband of Emily and shouldered the responsibility of trying to bother my wife while she is trying medication after medication, in addition to trying keep my marriage. Dierdre Banks (Vinessa Shaw) was the wife of Jonathan and it becomes a victim and unwilling participant in the current conditions that affect their lives. I think the whole cast did an excellent job, but as I said it is a tad slow for me at first. This movie will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and you do not know who is playing who. It was hard to know who to root for until everything is revealed at the end. I thought the story was good and will definitely take you on a roller coaster. I'm not sure that anyone could ever reach the same level as a Hitchcock film, but it comes pretty close. Steven Soderbergh did an excellent job covering this genre of cinema. I give this film a green light. |
