Users review: Where Cidade Deus, seems to have a lot of praise on the boards of IMDb, and with good reason too. It's just, in my opinion, one of the best contemporary films ever made.Based on real events and characters living in slums and poverty overlooked in the shadow of Rio de Janeiro, where the average life expectancy does not reach the thirties and drug traffickers kings.The that story about the City of God, and his numerous characters told Rocket, a young man who struggles to make something of his life, but to end another victim of drug or gang wars.Not only characters in the City of God is absolutely breathtaking and very sweet, but also convincingly acted by groups of young and unknown actors. In stoies well said, and at times funny, and at others, brutally shocking.The cinematic style of the film gives a nod to Tarantino, with some reasonable time jumping, freeze-framing and texts that show another film head. In every sense, a little Brazillian Pulp Fiction or Nice guys, but with its own unique flavor to it.The City of God is a miracle, and is highly recommended film to watch, but is not recommended for sensitive or easily upset. |
